New Music Love

May 28, 2008

My new favorite song is this one by Yael Naim. (Even her name is cool). I think I’ve listened to it one thousand times. It’s called New Soul, and I know, it’s on some Old Navy commercial or something, but still that doesn’t ruin it for me. I so love her accent in the music.

Enjoy.

CORRECTION: whoops! Thanks Melissa, I mixed up this song with the Ingrid Michealson song from the Old Navy commercial. (But I like that song equally well.)

Here’s a link to the REAL New Song Mac Book commercial. And one to the Old Navy one. And now I’M the commercial.

Music, Published, Overheard

April 6, 2008

For this week’s music, some serious Girl Power. Last week I was listening to the Berlin song “No More Words”, and I decided it’s like the ultimate chick song, dude!

You’re telling me you love me while you’re looking away
No more words, no more words
And no more promises of love

So I added some other chick songs that speak power to me. I ended it with new songs (at least to me) by Edie Brickell, I was way into her in high school.

Sorry, lots of self promoting this week. But I got brave last week and submitted my post about MEMEs to TypeaAMom.net. They took a while, but they accepted it and published it! Probably they accept anyone, but today I get to be that anyone.

And lastly a couple overheards:

TK in the back of the car: This day has been too long!
Mom: Oh really? (thinking 3 year olds can’t remember breakfast much less a long day)
TK: Yeah, when is it my birthday?

Another one:

TK praying: …And please bless my sisters that they won’t fart. (pause, pause–we all look around trying not to laugh), then he looks up with a big grin and says; Oh, I meant fight!

This is what afternoon spiderman looks like at our house. He had just lost his prized and very tiny bouncy ball. He was spent from crying his eyes out. But hot chocolate and Scooby Doo seemed to ease the pain.

Music Musings

March 31, 2008

The first two are songs I’ve been hearing a lot on the radio (all that back and forth TO school, FROM school–TO dance, FROM dance–you know the drill).

The last one I threw in because we finally saw JUNO (it was my hot birthday date).

(Music is on the playlist on the right)

Music: More Soundtracks

March 24, 2008

Dan in Real Life came out on video last week (I dare you to NOT like this movie, go ahead try, you’ll fail). The first song on the playlist is my favorite from that movie. They didn’t have ‘Ruthie Pigface Draper’ sorry. (I did find it on Rhapsody.com though)

The rest of the songs are from the movie Catch and Release. Hope you enjoy.

Good and Crazy Music

March 17, 2008

This week’s music has a theme, can you guess it? Yes—Beatles songs, but most of them are covers…

Give up? These are songs from the soundtrack ‘I Am Sam’. I have a love/hate relationship with that movie. I loved it, but cried through the WHOLE thing, so I hated it too.

I threw in the last song as an extra, I GROOVE on her voice!
